Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-10-02
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of the mobile app Binday (the “App”) provided by Ask White (“we”). By installing or using the App you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. What the App does
The App builds a calendar of waste collection days from photos or PDFs of collection calendars and sorting guides published by municipalities, from iCal files, or from your own input, and reminds you of collection days.
3. Checking the result (important)
- Photos and PDFs are read automatically, so the result may contain misreadings or omissions. Before saving, the App shows a screen where you compare the result with the original image and correct it.
- Please use collection days, types and instructions only after checking them yourself. The official calendar and notices of your municipality (including short-notice changes) always take priority.
- Holiday, year-end and rescheduling rules differ by municipality. We do not guarantee that the App’s holiday calculation (Japan, Germany) or estimates match the practice where you live.
- Except in cases of our intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for disadvantages (such as missed collections) arising from errors, delays or failures of the App’s display or alerts.
4. Images, camera and photos
- The camera and photos are used only to read your collection calendar.
- Text recognition (OCR) happens on your device. Photos, PDFs and screenshots are discarded when you close the review screen and are not saved by the App or by us.
- If you choose “Read again with AI”, on-device AI is used on supported devices. Otherwise, only the recognized text with its position and color information (never the image) is sent via our server to an AI service (OpenAI) to organize it into a calendar. The text is used only for this processing and is not stored by us. See the Privacy Policy.
5. Notifications
Alerts for collection days are scheduled on your device. Their content never passes through our servers. You can turn alerts off at any time in the App or in your device settings. Alerts may not arrive depending on your device’s state (power, Focus, settings, etc.).
6. Family sharing
- Family sharing uses Apple’s iCloud sharing. No sign-up to the App is needed; family members join with their own Apple Account.
- A shared calendar is stored in the sharer’s iCloud and is visible only to the people they invite. It does not pass through our servers.
- The person who shares can stop sharing at any time, and invited people can leave at any time.
7. Free features and purchase
- Free: your first automatic creation from a photo or PDF (you can re-read as often as you like until you save), creating a calendar by hand, the calendar view, alerts on the collection day at a time you choose, and one-off reminders. Cloud AI reading once.
- Binday Pro is a one-time (non-consumable) in-app purchase. It unlocks alerts days before, widgets, family sharing, multiple places, reading a new calendar again (cloud AI reading up to 12 times a year), iCal import and export to your calendar.
- The App has no subscriptions and no ads.
- Payment is handled by Apple. The price is shown on the App Store before purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can restore the purchase with “Restore purchase” using the same Apple Account.
- If a purchase is refunded or revoked, the related features stop working, but your calendars are not deleted.
8. Prohibited use
You may not use the App in violation of law or public order, access the App or our servers (including the AI relay) without authorization, place excessive load on them or use them in automated bulk, or modify or reverse-engineer the App (except where permitted by law).
9. Disclaimer and changes
- The App is provided as is. We do not guarantee that it is always available or free of errors.
- We may change the App or these terms. Important changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
- We cannot recover data lost through device failure, loss or deleting the App.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country or region prevail where they apply.
